Delivering Pragmatic Agricultural Education

With support from the local US Agribusiness Development Team (ADT) and Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT), GPFA is helping Albironi University serve its students in the Central Provinces and throughout the country through intensive hands-on training in horticulture and farm forestry to supplement academic course offerings. Through its on-campus project office, GPFA supports faculty/student committees in horticulture, forestry, outreach and extension, renewable energies, water, weather, women in agriculture, and landscaping. A follow-up project in 2010 will develop community outreach and a forestry program on campus and for surrounding villages.

“By giving Albironi students the practical training they need to excel in the agricultural sector, we’re creating optimism among scores of Afghans who truly wish to see their country’s success.” MSG Colin E. Jones of the Nebraska ADT

“GPFA is bringing to campus modern technologies, sound management practices and an entrepreneurial approach that will help sustain our activities for years to come.” Nasr Tahiri, Dean of Albironi drip_greenhousUniversity’s School of Agriculture
